The Moretti Institute for Learning and Further Education, usually abreviated to M.I.L.F.E, is a school based in Valentine that offers a wide range of lessons within its curriculum from basic reading and writing to modern dance and is open to all who seek an education.

History

Background

M.I.L.F.E originated as the brain child of Betty Butcher who wished to pay forward the kindness she had been shown in being taught to read and write. The School was originally proposed to be held within the recently vacated Braithwaite Manor though a disagreement with its new occupants led to the school's relocation to the newly renovated church in Valentine.

Betty spent a number of weeks recruiting potential teachers and students and seeking out donations from generous benefactors. The proposal for the formation of a school garnered much support and with the hiring of Mrs. Goose as head teacher who brought with her a wealth of experience running her own Sunday School, the Moretti Institute for Learning and Further Education looked set to have a bright future.

The School officially opened its doors in late September of 1901 to great success and plaudits from the people of the Crossing.
