Welcome to your first step to becoming a medical professional in Saints Crossing! Please follow this guide to make sure your journey in medical roleplay on WildRP is a success.

FAQ

What is the Saints Crossing Department of Health?

The SCDH is the governing body of all things health-related within Saints Crossing.

What is the overall tone of Medical RP in Saints Crossing?

Many people treat Medical RP differently, we have many different levels of seriousness within Saints Crossing ranging from “just use Cocaine” to doctors who dive deep into the medical realm to treat various illnesses. As with any type of RP, we recommend feeling out the situation and staying true to your character.

How do the Doctor’s Offices work?

Medical personnel are not designated to certain towns or offices. Instead, we believe that to supply the demand for medical roleplay, doctors should remain fluid and nomadic in their practices. It is a good idea when working out of an office to use inclusive language such as “Our Office” or “How can we help you today?” so as not to colonize a location.

What are the perks of becoming an SCDH medical practitioner?
  • Funding by the State:
    • Access to increased pay
    • An unlimited medical bag attribute (not an item)
  • Access to government information
    • First-priority notice of patients requiring treatment
    • Patient documentation and processes
    • Collaboration with other government departments such as the Law and Ranger departments

All SCDH medical professionals are required to be lawful.

The Process

Send a Telegram

To begin the journey of getting the role, please send a telegram to the Department of Health Deputy Director. You may roleplay that you found the Director’s Telegram posted in one of the medical facilities throughout the state or better yet, ask some of the current medical staff for it! TIP: Remember to include your telegram or you won't hear back!

Director Sloane Sullivan: VN036

Information Required

The following information is required to be included in your telegram:

  • The character’s full name (should be the same as the character select menu)
  • The character’s telegram number
  • The character’s medical skill/focus
    • The medical skill could be something like medic, nurse, doctor, medicine person, healer, etc. (You do not have to be a doctor to join!)
    • The focus could be surgeries, therapy, dentistry, etc.
  • How or where the character received their medical knowledge (see Joining With No Medical Background)

If your character does not use the telegram system please reach out to the Support Bot to discuss an alternative that works for your character.

You will be contacted by a staff member representing the medical team to schedule an OOC interview. This interview is intended to cover the OOC expectations of this service role and walk you through the on-boarding process.Your character will also be subject to an IC background check for lawfulness.

Approval

Once you have been approved we recommend introducing yourself to the medical characters of the Crossing to become accustomed to the medical culture. These medical characters will assess, provide pointers and assist you with getting up to speed if you’re not quite ready yet.

  • Current medical characters will often allow you to help with medical roleplay scenarios.
    • They will often allow you to help with medical roleplay scenarios.
    • This is your time to show off your medical roleplay skills both in character and out of character.
    • Trainees should expect to be proactive in their own training.

If your character, for whatever reason, would not enter towns to provide medical roleplay, please send a message to the Support Bot explaining the situation and we will work with you to find a solution.

Once the medical team feels you are ready to provide high-quality medical roleplay and that you can treat basic injuries on your own, the team will vote and we will assign you the discord role.

Joining With No Medical Background

There are a variety of options you can pursue before sending a telegram to the deputy director if you, or your character, do not have a medical background including, but not limited to:

  • Learn from the medical characters or organizations within the Crossing
  • Shelf the character for a while and roleplay learning medical skills while they are away
  • Roleplay leaving the county on certain days/times and “attend” medical school
  • Get creative with it and find a way that makes sense for your character to develop these skills

If you are an experienced medical roleplayer, we recommend having this knowledge as part of your character’s backstory to become quickly certified.

However, if you are new to medical roleplay, want to learn in-character, or are acquiring new knowledge for an active character, you should expect knowledge to grow over a reasonable period of time and with character progression.

Please Note: The knowledge you learn throughout this process should be logical, believable, acquired within a reasonable time period, and medical knowledge that aligns with the era in time. For example:

  • You wouldn’t learn to become a doctor from someone with no medical knowledge
  • You would not become a doctor or medic rapidly overnight
  • You wouldn’t use Tylenol® or advanced antibiotics during this era in time

What does it mean to be lawful?

While this question may be vague, we always recommend using your best judgment!

Here are some things a lawful character would do: (These are suggestions/ideas and do not need to be followed directly):

  • Work with the sheriffs and deputies
  • Disapprove of crimes
  • Follow the laws
  • Stick around lawful characters
  • Avoid being around criminals if possible

Here are some things lawful characters wouldn’t do:

  • Hide things or withhold info from sheriffs and deputies
  • Commit crimes themselves
  • Approve of crimes
  • Willingly be around often (building relationships with) people who are known criminals
  • Assist criminals be it information, supplies, etc.

What if I don’t want to join or be lawful?

Players who wish to conduct medical roleplay with medical characters (lawful or unlawful) are not required to join the SCDH to practice. There is plenty of great roleplay to be had independently. These characters simply will not have access to perks nor be officially recognized by the State as medical practitioners.

However, for server health players are not currently allowed to build independent organizations. This is a server rule. If you have any questions on this, please contact the Support Bot and we will be happy to help.

Additionally, please remember that using official medical titles that require an active license (medic, nurse, doctor, counselor, etc.) when you do not have a proper license in-character is illegal. You may do so, but you may also be charged with impersonation in the process. It is not illegal to treat people should the need arise but you cannot claim or imply you have any official roles or titles.
