History

Early Life Prior to The Crossing

Robbie, the youngest of two sons to Robert and Kara Gold . His brother's name was Dillon. Later in Robbie's life, Robbie referred to his brother as Phillip. He did this while on the run to help conceal his identity. Dillon was older than Robbie by approximately 8 years. He was more of a father and mentor than Robbie's actual father and they were very close. Robert gold was a cruel man who was a drunkard and abusive to his family. He would lose his temper with Robbie and curse him out. Often he'd reiterate that Robbie was a pitiful namesake of his and was upset that Sarah named him after him. Dillon often would intercede and take the beating for Robbie, but on occasion Robbie was laid into greatly. This influenced Robbie to have short temperament and to for the most part of his life abhor giving ones self up to alcohol and would not partake most of his life. Robbie's older brother Dillon being a protector of sorts believed in lawful ways to handle things, while Robbie was more temperamental and blamed the deputies for not stopping his father from being the awful man he was. Robbie and Dillon would often argue about life, discussing the paths of right and wrong and how society was broken. Dillon believed he could rise to the top of the ranks of Law and influence the world to change, Robbie felt Law was incapable of doing anything due to their inaction. As such, Robbie got into minor rebellious trouble in his early teenage life. Robbie, however, was young and impressionable and began to side with his brother over time. A change was seen in his behavior and he even found work in the town.

Robbie when of age set out to create what he felt was lacking. He moved away and began to build a town of his own. Laid in the wood and brick and began building a town one shop and house at a time. He met with a man who wanted to be sheriff and help him build the town. His name was Becker Lang. They set out and found a Mayor for the town to make it legit and bring life to the small abodes. His name was Miller. These three men together formed the town of Miller Point. For months they labored and grew in population slowly. Robbie's eyes and dreams were bigger than what was possible for the three and nearby towns begin to spring up and rival their growth. Robbie attempted to bring a train through the town and it caused more problems than it would have solved for the towns finances. Outlaws also began to move in nearby areas and Becker and Robbie developed unique relationships with some of them. Eventually the hit one of the biggest jackpots as they caught a US Calvary transport of Gold moving through the area. The Outlaws found themselves with more gold than they could even store and asked Robbie to help with it. However, they brought a great deal of heat upon themselves and were found and killed. Before they died they left word to Robbie of where they hid the majority of their gold and Robbie inherited a great wealth and split some with Lang and Miller and they abandoned the town effort. Robbie used some of the fortune to fashion the finest Golden jacket he could think of. The silks were from shipped from overseas and he had a gold bar melted down and coated the silks so that it would glimmer brightly in the sun. He had a snake gun holster and belt made with some of the gold and he rest of the gold fortune was buried and hid from the world for a later use.

Dillon, Robbie's brother, was an excellent lawman and rose through the ranks quickly. He was hot-headed, smart and calculated and was making a name for himself in West Texas as more than capable. He married to a woman named Sarah and they had a kid named Jesse. He made Sheriff and was hopeful to join the U.S. Marshal ranks. A certain outlaw gang had been causing trouble in a nearby town and Dillon attempted to round up a posse' to ride out and bring them in. They had a leader named Chester Payne who was notorious. Bringing him down would have surely granted him the promotion he wanted. Dillon was, however, unable to round up a posse' as most the deputies and other sheriffs felt it wasn't their town or their problem and knew that Dillon purely wanted to catch Payne for his own fame as a lawman. Dillon, despite not having any posse' or back-up rode out to bring them down. Dillon never returned and the only word that returned of him were rumors of how Payne had killed him. The rumors spoke of the brutality in which he was murdered. His body was never found nor returned so the rumors stayed common belief and no one knew what had become of him nor his remains.

Robbie was destroyed by the news and the rumors. He filled his mind with rage. They had a funeral for Dillon, but Robbie never got the closure he felt he needed as there was never a body returned and he felt he never got to say his final goodbyes. Dillon had left a will to Robbie that he hoped he would care for Sarah and Jesse if he were to die Robbie, however, was very young and not ready to accept the responsibility. Robbie stayed for a bit, but could not settle and sought revenge. He left Colorado City, Tx when Jesse was about 12 so that he could ride and find Payne and his gang and get the revenge and closure he needed. He was able to meet up with his friend, Becker Lang who wasn't ever really a sheriff at all. In fact he was a leader of a notorious gang himself known as the Lang Gang. They were able to get the revenge he so sought after. They came upon Payne and his gang and killed all 13 men and women that rode with Payne, but not before they confirmed the rumors that they did in deed kill Dillon and dumped the body in a river.

Something snapped in Robbie that day, and he felt he could not return back home to Sarah and Jesse. His anger and rage still consumed his mind. With those dead that were directly responsible for Dillon's death; Robbie turned his rage towards the law. He set to find out all those that refused him to aide the day he rode out. It became his only focal point and nothing else mattered besides proving to anyone that would listen that the law was filled with cowards and hypocrites. He departed from Becker and his gang and did his own thing for a few years, till he learned of the crossing and set out to find his old friend Becker.

Events in Saint's Crossing

Robbie's journey in the Crossing began with helping a robbery on the very first night he met up with Becker Lang and Chavez. They did a job just outside of Valentine and convinced a private investigator to search a nearby ranch for paranormal activity where they ambushed him and robbed his guns. They caught up and had laughs, but Robbie couldn't stay in the crossing long and had matters else where.

Several weeks passed and Robbie returned to the crossing and met up with Becker and his gang. Lang Gang had made a name for themselves in the crossing and found themselves in the crosshairs of the Valentine Sheriff "Mad Dog Maddox."
Robbie was having a meeting with Becker and his gang and discussions about Robbie officially joining the Lang Gang and riding with Becker Lang were taking place. Mad Dog Maddox had a posse' of law that found out they were in the St. Denis Saloon and laid siege demanding the surrender of the Gang. They fired several rounds into the bar while there were a few civilians and others not associated with the gang inside. In the chaos of the next moments Becker and some of his fled out the upstairs back door, but there was miscommunication and Robbie thought they were going to fight. Robbie flanked took a deputy hostage and held a shotgun to to her back, demanding that the law cease fire and everyone go their separate ways. Mad Dog, aptly named, made the judgement call to try and shoot Robbie Gold. Barely missing his head he split his ear with the first shot and Robbie shot twice from point blank into the back of the young deputy. He scrambled bleeding from the ear around the block and caught another deputy who was intently watching the front of the saloon and he fired his shotgun into the leg of the deputy. The Deputy returned fire and with one round from a bolt action rifle Robbie fell to the street. The rest of the Lang Gang escaped during this as Robbie was arrested.
He was taken in for questioning and for the fire fight. Maddox refused to allow Robbie to have proper medical as the bullet wound didn't seem life threatening. He instead used tactics such as putting the finger deep in the wound and shoving bandages into the wound to try and coerce confession. He accused Robbie of being Lang Gang, which truthfully at this point he was not. He hadn't decided on what future he wanted in the crossing, but this treatment and accusations from Maddox would certainly come into play in the coming months.
Robbie decided to join Becker Lang and ride along side him on the condition that they were equals and made it clear he didn't ride for Becker but rather with Becker. They became brothers and throughout all their time in the crossing they were incredibly close. Becker in many ways replaced Robbie's void from his older brother Dillon's death.
The Lang Gang found themselves embroiled in many altercations over the coming months with a rivalry of sorts developing between Robbie and the Sheriffs Timers and Maddox.

Key Events
The Death of Sydney Kidney
Sydney Kidney was a member of the Lang Gang, but normally did not ride with the Gang. He instead had set up a fence operation to sell guns and merchandise. Sydney's hands were mostly clean when it came to doing the more dirty work the gang did, but he began to grow bored and wanted to ride with out with another member of the gang, Philly the Kid, to do some highwayman robberies. Unfortunately they came upon trouble and Sydney was caught by law. Sydney not having his hands dirty, the gang felt he'd get a slap on the wrist and released. Despite Philly trying to convince the gang to go rescue them they made the call to allow his sentence to happen. The Law, however, sought to make a statement with this arrest as he was the first formal Lang Gang member they had been able to sink their teeth into. He was charged with every crime committed by any member of the Lang Gang and given blanket charges of several attempted murders. Sheriff Woody made the call on behalf of the Marshals and sentenced him to death. Knowing the risk of response during the execution they carried it out swiftly in the North near Annesburg. Deputy Mika and Deputy Killian were identified as being part of the firing squad.
The Lang Gang took great exception to this execution as Sydney was very much a young man who in their eyes was not worthy of death. They vowed to have their revenge on the Law involved, and so began the hunt for Sheriff Woody, Deputy Mika, and Deputy Killian.

The Shot Heard Around the Crossing
Weeks passed after the death of Sydney and the violence and crimes escalated. In time the Lang Gang would not focus so intently on the three that they sought revenge on and instead focused on jobs. Chavez was caught and arrested one day while he was cut off from the others. Fearing what happened with Sydney to be the fate Chavez faced, the Lang Gang would not allow for this sentencing to go through. Chavez was being held in the cells in Valentine and the Gang took Valentine by force. Seizing two hostages to exchange for Chavez. One was an older man that was loved by the town. Robbie held his gun to the back of his head while negotiations took place. It was agreed by Sheriff Timers to let one hostage go and then they'd let Chavez go at the same time as the second hostage. It was agreed that the law would not shoot and would allow Lang Gang to mount their horses and leave without blood shed. Robbie agreed, but made sure they knew if once he gave up the leverage of the hostage if they tried anything then he would return and burn down Valentine and the ashes would be their fault. Mad Dog Maddox did not agree with the plan, butd not relay his disagreement until after the exchange happened and then he opened fire as Lang Gang ran for the horses, as soon as Robbie reached his horse a bullet ripped into his shoulder blade and Robbie fell to the ground off of his horse. In the commotion of the fire fight Robbie was secured by one of the gang and whisked away to be treated. Robbie was in grave condition but received proper medical treatment. Robbie was vaulted into hyper aggression and periods of intense rage against Law following this shooting. The Law going back on a deal they made and gunning him down was beyond forgiveness. They were no longer people to Robbie. Just objects of hate and anger. This catapulted his rage against Law from his brothers death into something much worse. Even Becker himself tried to calm him down and insisted that Robbie not give into that anger and hate. This was as much a pivotal moment in Robbie's story as any moment. His vendetta to destroy Valentine would never be dropped and he made sure to use the truth of the Law's lie to his benefit to win others to his cause.

The Retired Badge
The Gang got into the business of "Fortunate Meetings". In which they would accept bounties to kidnap someone for a fee to deliver to the customer under terms favorable to the customer. They were approached by a former Deputy Marshal, Dep. Marshal Weathers. He approached with an offer of dynamite for a certain sheriff, Maddox. The Lang Gang agreed and concocted a plan to kidnap a woman by the name of Faelin who was a significant other for the deputy, Deputy Mann, who was serving under Maddox. They kidnapped Faelin and put her on the tracks past the bridge by Bacchus station and sent word for Mann for him and Maddox to come alone. They complied and Maddox went willingly for the release of the girl. Maddox was delivered to Weathers in the old cave West of Big Valley Ranch. Weathers challenged Maddox to a duel. The two had previous grievances over the death of woman that was considered a witch. Maddox won the duel. While Lang Gang wanted to hurt and get back at Maddox for what they considered "crimes" against them they had given word that he would be released if he won the duel. The Lang Gang didn't have a whole lot of morals but they believed that their word was something they didn't want to break easily, and they let Maddox go. Robbie put Weathers on the back of his horse and rode him into Valentine. Robbie believed that no matter the person or the risk that if you take lethal measures to kill someone then the body should be returned. This belief was engrained due to his deep seeded pain of never having his brother to bury. Weathers died due to injuries from the duel and Lang Gang were blamed in part for his death.
The Mayor of St. Denis
The Lang Gang stationed most of their operations in the east of the crossing around St. Denis. However the law began swarming St. Denis regularly trying to apprehend Lang Gang.
