History

Early Life

(WIP) The youngest of three, Sheila was born in Broken Hill - a rural silver mining town in Australia. Born to Stephen and Rosanne O'Kelly, a train engineer and nurse respectively, Sheila was always close with her father. Following Stephen's death, the family came upon tough times. A decision was made to send one of the children to the United States in hopes of setting up to bring the rest of the family over once they'd earned enough - Sheila drawing the short straw.

Character

Personality

Sheila often comes across as a friendly and outgoing individual, happy to strike up conversation with most people in the Crossing. By her own admission, Sheila can be "chronically stupid" at times. She often acts on impulse or is driven by emotion, which has frequently landed her in hot water. Despite this, she has a heart of gold and will do her best to help others and keep her loved ones safe.

Appearance

Standing at 5'2", Sheila has a softer build; she appears slightly chubby, however her arms are relatively toned. While she does not look muscular she is surprisingly strong thanks to her time lugging around pig carcass on Guarma. She has green eyes (or rather, eye) and brown hair which was originally worn as a short bob, however it is now past shoulder length and often worn in a half pony-tail. Her list of scars are extensive;

  • One scar across her nose trailing under her right eye - a childhood accident.
  • 2nd and 3rd degree burns up the left side of her body - caused by being blown up by Revenant Wright.
  • Six bullet scars (x3 to chest, x2 to back, x1 to jaw) - caused being shot by Edward Carr. There is also a long scar along the left side of her jaw from the reconstructive surgery.
  • Long scar across her abdomen, missing ring and pinky fingers from right hand, gouged out left eye - caused by Dakota Skinner.
  • One bullet wound to lower right of her back - a result of a shoot out with Edward Carr and Varek Gunn.

Horses

Magpie

A black Kentucky Saddler with a black and white mane, Magpie is the first horse Sheila purchased in the Crossing. Named after the Australian bird, her running theory is that Magpie took his name a little too seriously, as he has attempted to kill her on multiple occasions by jumping from high ledges. He may not be the smartest horse, but she still loves him dearly. Magpie has since been retired and is living his best life at the Strawberry stables.

Redemption

Nicknamed "Red", Redemption was gifted to Sheila by Jebadiah Longwater upon Sheila's return from Guarma, along with helping her out of debts from being arrested and from snitching on Red Water. The Steel Gray Breton served as her work horse as a ranger, and was present (and injured) when she was shot down by Edward Carr in the Frontier. Sheila has a deep attachment to Red, and she is very protective of him.

Rorschach

(WIP - Chestnut Tovero.)

Emule

(WIP - A mule (represented by a Wild Bay Bustang))

Mercy

Originally owned by Jon Grace, Mercy is a Dapple Gray Thoroughbred left to Sheila following his death. Mercy had a long standing reputation of being a bastard to the members of the Grace Gang, however appears to have calmed down considerably once finding himself in Sheila's care. In memory of Jon, she occasionally takes Mercy out while she is on duty as a deputy, however due to concerns of him being shot down, she tends to keep him for an off duty horse.

Goose

(WIP - Grey Turkoman)

Osprey

Purchased for $200 from "Big Bo" in early 1903, Osprey is a donkey (represented by a Grullo Dun Mustang) initially named Juan Pablo Martinez Martinez The Third, later renamed 'Osprey' on the suggestion of Deputy Jones Edison to keep with the bird theme. Having a longstanding love of farm animals, Sheila brought Osprey on impulse alone before becoming absolutely enamored with the donkey.

Trivia

  • Despite her crippling allergy to cats, Sheila is very much a crazy cat lady. There have been multiple instances of her being taken to the medical offices after insisting on patting the cats near the Strawberry ranger lodge. Unfortunately, this allergy extends to cougars.
  • The nickname 'La' originates from her eldest brother, Ross. In their younger years, Ross was trapped in a grain silo and was attempting to call out for Sheila, however all that could be heard was a muffled 'la' - the nickname has stuck.
  • Sheila is very bisexual, and has a long-standing weakness for stronger women.
